Partnership between the MFA and the National Democratic Institute of the USA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nickolay Mladenov and the president of the National Democratic Institute Kenneth Wollack signed a Memorandum of understanding on 27 April 2011 in Washington. The document is based on our country’s experience in the field of democratic construction, our part as a regional leader and on the broad expertise of the National Democratic Institute in strengthening democratic values and practices around the world. The focus of the planned joint activities is on supporting democratic reforms in the countries from the Near East, West Balkans and the Black Sea region.
“Bulgaria has the obligation to help these nations who fight for their political freedoms and for the protection of their human dignity,” said Nickolay Mladenov during the ceremony.
The National Democratic Institute is one of the most powerful non-governmental organizations in Washington, whose values and activities are focused on strengthening democracy worldwide. The organization has offices in over 60 countries around the world
