Deputy Minister Tasheva Receives Credentials of New UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria Mio Nemoto

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva received the credentials of the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria, Mr Mio Nemoto.

During the meeting, the two highlighted the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and UNICEF, including in the areas of early childhood development, deinstitutionalisation and inclusive education, and discussed opportunities to further build on and develop this cooperation. In this context, particular attention was given to initiatives concerning the mental health of children and adolescents, their protection from violence, including in the digital environment, and other related issues.

Deputy Minister Tasheva expressed her gratitude to the UNICEF Office in Bulgaria for its consistent commitment to promoting the rights of the child and for its active cooperation with Bulgarian institutions.

Mio Nemoto thanked the Bulgarian Government for its support and emphasised the importance of the partnership between Bulgaria and UNICEF at a time when the organisation is marking the 80th anniversary of its establishment and 20 years since the opening of its office in Bulgaria.
