Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva Meets with the Newly Appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia

On 27 July 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva received copies of the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Bulgaria, resident in Warsaw, H.E. Mr Raimonds Jansons.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Tasheva and Ambassador Jansons reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the constructive cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the frameworks of the European Union, NATO and international organisations. They also expressed their common intention to intensify the bilateral political dialogue and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including tourism, energy, artificial intelligence and cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The discussions also covered current issues on the European Union's agenda, including security, support for Ukraine, particularly with regard to assistance provided to Ukrainian refugees in both countries, among other issues.
The meeting also addressed cooperation between Bulgaria and Latvia within the framework of the United Nations, including Latvia's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term.
