Ministers Velislava Petrova and Georgi Peev Meet European Commissioner Marta Kos

Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova and Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev met today in Brussels with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and members of the Cabinet of the President of the European Commission.
The main focus of the discussions was on initiatives to improve connectivity between the European Union, South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and the Middle East. Ministers Petrova and Peev presented Bulgaria's vision for the development of transport, energy and digital connectivity, emphasising the importance of building on existing infrastructure projects and implementing new initiatives of common European interest.
The meeting also covered opportunities for financing these projects, including through public-private partnership mechanisms and the European Union’s financial instruments.
The Bulgarian ministers stressed that improving transport connectivity and diversifying energy supplies are essential to strengthening the European Union’s economic resilience, energy security and competitiveness. They noted that the development of new transport and energy corridors would facilitate the closer integration of the Western Balkan countries, Ukraine and Moldova into the European economic area.
