Deputy Minister Christo Polendakov Meets Chinese Ambassador Dai Qingli

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov held a meeting with Dai Qingli, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bulgaria. During the talks, both sides welcomed the continued development of the longstanding traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
They discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in the areas of trade, industry, connectivity, tourism, education and culture, as well as prospects for deepening the high-level political dialogue. The two sides also expressed their readiness to work together in preparation for the next session of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Deputy Minister-level Political Consultations. The aim is to inject new momentum and substance into bilateral relations, identify practical cooperation projects, and review and update the existing bilateral legal framework. Deputy Minister Polendakov underlined the importance of efforts to achieve a more balanced bilateral trade relationship, as well as the potential to increase and diversify Bulgarian exports to China and to attract Chinese investment and tourists.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on Russia's aggression against Ukraine, relations between the European Union and China, and other issues of mutual interest.
