Neynsky and Duran discussed strategic communication and hybrid threats

Within the framework of the STRATCOM Summit 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Nadezhda Neynsky, held a meeting yesterday in Istanbul with the Director of the Communications Directorate at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Burhanettin Duran. For his part, Prof. Duran gave a globe to the foreign minister.
The two discussed issues related to strategic communications, countering disinformation and developing cooperation in the field of public diplomacy. Our first diplomat expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in STRATCOM Summit 2026 and stressed the importance of deepening the dialogue in this direction in a dynamic information environment. Nadezhda Neynski informed her interlocutor about the temporary coordination mechanism she has created to counter disinformation and combat hybrid threats and maintain information resilience in connection with the expected intensification of attempts at disinformation campaigns and manipulation of foreign policy information in the context of the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Bulgaria on April 19 this year. For his part, Professor Duran presented the way the unit he leads works.
An intention was also expressed to strengthen cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in the field of countering hybrid threats and improving information resilience, including through the exchange of good practices on capacity building and institutional coordination.
