On 14 January 2024, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Nevyana Miteva, received the copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Sahu.

During the talks satisfaction was expressed with the upward development of the long-standing relations of traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and close partnership between Bulgaria and India, and readiness was expressed for their further deepening in a number of areas. Trade and economic exchange, science, technology, education, security and culture were identified as promising areas of cooperation.

In this context, the two sides agreed on the importance of political dialogue and broadening the treaty-law base and committed to work towards exchanging visits at the highest and most senior levels. The important role of the EU-India Strategic Partnership and the further strengthening of exchanges between the EU and the world's largest democracy were also underlined.
