Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova signed the condolence book of the US Embassy
06 January 2025 NewsThe Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Elena Shekerletova signed today the condolence book of the US Embassy in Sofia on the death of James ‘Jimmy’ Earl Carter Jr. — the 39th President of the United States and Nobel Peace Prize winner.
In her message, Deputy Minister Shekerletova conveyed on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and on her own behalf sincere condolences to the US Government and the American people for their great loss. ‘Jimmy Carter was an outstanding statesman and humanitarian who lived in service to others, promoting peace, democracy and human rights. He also contributed to conflict resolution in complex times. Guided by his strong faith and values, Jimmy Carter devoted his life after the presidency to selfless service to the people in the interest of social justice, improving health care and fighting disease. Thanks to the Habitat for Humanity Foundation he had established, Jimmy Carter helped millions of people around the world, including in Bulgaria, to build their own homes. He was an example of compassion, kindness and hard work. Jimmy Carter will remain an inspiration to us all. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time. Let us honour his memory!’, the condolence message said.
