Participation of Deputy Minister Nevyana Miteva in the briefing of the Bulgarian youth delegates to the UN
18 December 2024 NewsOn 16 December 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Nevyana Miteva attended the traditional briefing of the Bulgarian youth delegates, participants in the ‘Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the United Nations’ Programme, established in 2006 by the United Nations Association in Bulgaria and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. Our country is one of the 40 countries that participate in the UN Youth Delegate Programme and thus ranks among the leading countries internationally that recognize youth as an equal partner in decision-making processes at national and international level.
In her address to the youth delegates, Deputy Minister Nevyana Miteva expressed her gratitude to the participants in the programme for their contribution to multilateral diplomacy and Bulgaria's international representation. She stressed the importance of young people as key partners in national and global decision-making processes and noted that the Programme not only promotes leadership and innovation, but also opens new horizons for development and participation in sustainable solutions to global challenges. The active involvement of young people is key to building a better future. It was stressed that Bulgaria remains committed to supporting young people and will continue to invest in the development of their leadership and social responsibility, because their participation is essential for achieving global peace and sustainable development.
The youth delegates of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN with mandate 2023/2024 Mr. Alexander Yanev and Mr. Kosta Karakashyan presented their activities and participation in the 62nd session of the Commission on Social Development in the period 5—14 February this year in New York, in the meeting of the EU Working Group on UN issues on 16 May this year in Brussels, Belgium, as well as in the General Discussion on Social Development in the framework of the Third Committee (3—4 October 2024) of the UN General Assembly in New York. The newly elected youth delegates Ms. Emily Karakoleva and Ms. Svetoslava Simeonova presented their priorities for their mandate in 2025.
