Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva chairs a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Mechanism for Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD

On 14 October at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva, a regular meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Mechanism for Bulgaria’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development was held. The mechanism involves all ministries and other state agencies working on the implementation of this important national priority for Bulgaria.
Ms. Angelieva noted that the accession process has entered its decisive phase, given the target set to complete the technical negotiations by the end of 2025. She informed that the OECD Secretariat continues to view this objective as fully achievable in view of the positive assessment of progress to date. In this regard, he called for maintaining the full mobilization of the efforts of all institutions involved in the central administration to avoid delays. Deputy Minister Angelieva also drew attention to an upcoming visit to Sofia in November by representatives of the OECD Secretariat.
The meeting reviewed the state of play of the accession process by individual committees and working groups. The follow-up recommendations received from the OECD, reports from completed technical reviews, as well as measures already taken and planned in the National Roadmap to align policies to OECD principles and standards were discussed.
