Quadrilateral meeting in New York of the first diplomats of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Croatia

27 September 2024 News

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov participated in the traditional quadrilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Croatia in the framework of the UNGA General Debate in New York

The four top diplomats discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its implications for regional security and touched upon the evolving crisis in the Middle East. The subject of their discussions was also the EU's enlargement policy.

Ivan Kondov and his colleagues were unanimous that unwavering support for Ukraine should continue for as long as necessary. The four diplomats were adamant that Ukraine's future lies in the European Union.

There was also a common view that the new geopolitical reality gives the central role to the EU enlargement policy. It is in our interest to have stable, pro-European and prosperous neighbours in our neighbourhood.

The four agreed to continue coordinating their positions on these and other issues on the European and global agenda.
