The Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maya Dobreva, today held consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Mantas Adomenas.
Both parties discussed topical issues on the NATO agenda to be decided at the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius, 11—12 July 2023. The need to strengthen the Alliance's defence and deterrence capabilities on the Eastern flank, and political and practical support to Ukraine, in response to the changed security environment and growing risks in the Euro-Atlantic area, was underlined.
The discussion focused on ways to counter hybrid threats, including strategic communications and countering disinformation, as well as a unified EU and NATO response. The Bulgarian delegation was introduced to the good Lithuanian practices in this field. The common view was the need for close cooperation to strengthen resilience in the context of current regional and global challenges.
