13 June 2023 News
In connection with the address of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Bulgaria, published on 12 June 2023 on social networks, in which hypotheses and assumptions are expressed regarding the support provided by the Republic of Bulgaria to Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to remind the following:
The Republic of Bulgaria strongly condemns the unprecedented and unprovoked military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and contributes to international efforts to support the country. We are consistent in our position of solidarity with the people of Ukraine and in our unconditional support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country within its internationally recognised borders, including territorial waters.
The assistance that the Republic of Bulgaria provides to Ukraine is legitimately conditioned by the relevant legal norms and rules, and the forms of communication and responsible behaviour characteristic of the democratic process are incompatible with any distortion of information in the public domain.
Any attempts at propaganda and disinformation that compromise democratic values are unacceptable and unacceptable.
In this sense, Bulgaria is a participant in a number of national and international initiatives to combat disinformation, with a clear understanding of the fundamental role of our democratic society in our shared efforts to prevent suggestion and speculation.
