Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov conferred Monday with Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi

The relations between our countries and peoples are of long standing and had been very constructive before the painful case with the Bulgarian nurses, said Mladenov. "Yet, the tough years have gone and we should have strength to look forward to the mutually beneficial opportunities, created by cooperation," he added. The Bulgarians have a good name in Libya because they have contributed for the building of this country in the course of the years, the Bulgarian top diplomat also said.
The Libyan Prime Minister agreed that there are possibilities for cooperation in many spheres: energy, agriculture, engineering, medicine, etc. The sides agreed on the drafting of a programme on restoration of economic relations at inter-state level.
Mladenov also had a brief talk with Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi and Foreign Minister Mousa Kousa, the message of the Foreign Ministry also said.
Mladenov is in Tripoli for participation in the EU-Africa Business Forum.
