Minister Nikolay Milkov met with the ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bulgaria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikolay Milkov met with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria, Lukasz Kautsky.

Minister Milkov presented the priorities of the caretaker government. Among the main priorities for the MFA is the organization and holding of the elections abroad for the National Assembly on October 2, 2022. About 800 polling stations are expected to be opened.

A leading foreign policy priority for Bulgaria continues to be the active participation of our country in the decision-making process within the EU and NATO. In the context of the complex crises we face, a collective approach enables us to make our voices heard and protect the common European interest.

Minister Milkov and Ambassador Kautsky also discussed other priority issues for our country, including joining the Schengen Area and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Western Balkans, events from the calendar of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Central European Initiative.

Minister Milkov expressed the support of the Bulgarian side for the priorities of the Czech rotating presidency of the Council of the EU in the period July 1 - December 31, 2022 and our readiness to contribute to their successful implementation. Ambassador Kautsky expressed expectation that the good cooperation with our country will continue and pointed out the coincidence in the positions of the two countries on a large number of important issues for the EU and NATO.
