Deputy Minister Dimitrova received the Ambassador of Albania

Deputy Foreign Minister Irena Dimitrova received Albanian Ambassador to Bulgaria Donika Hoxha. The two discussed co-operation in international organizations and current topics. They highlighted efforts within NATO and the EU to support Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion and the ensuing refugee crisis.

The positive assessment of the upward development of the bilateral dialogue and the expansion of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest was common. Ambassador Donika Hoxha emphasized that Albania, a loyal partner, and ally, highly values ​​and will continue to rely on Bulgarian support and assistance, including Bulgarian development assistance.

The Deputy Foreign Minister praised the role and efforts of the Albanian country as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and before that as chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2020.

 She reaffirmed Bulgaria's consistent support for Albania's European integration, stressing that the principle of self-merit remains at the forefront of the EU's enlargement process. In addition, she highlighted the important role of the Bulgarian minority in Albania as a bridge for maintaining close contacts between the two countries.
