Minister Genchovska met with the Bulgarian community in Taraclia, Moldova

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska met with representatives of the Bulgarian community in the city of Taraclia during her official visit to Moldova.

I would like to express my deep admiration for your efforts, thanks to which, for 200 years, you have managed to preserve the Bulgarian spirit, traditions, culture and language. I feel at home here, Minister Genchovska addressed our compatriots in Taraclia - the city known as the Center of Bulgarians in Moldova. She stressed that the numerous Bulgarian community in the country is an extremely important and constructive element in bilateral relations, as well as a bridge of friendship between the two peoples.

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister also met with the chairman of the Taraclia region, Ivan Paslar, and his team. Minister Genchovska pointed out that the topic of the Bulgarian diaspora in Moldova is always on the agenda and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is ready to work to solve the problems there. Bulgaria will continue to finance valuable projects under the Cooperation and Development Programme, she assured. The possibilities for implementation of joint projects in the field of economy, education and culture were also discussed.

During her visit, Minister Teodora Genchovska also visited the Center for Temporary Accommodation of Refugees in Taraclia, as well as the only university outside Bulgaria where Bulgarian is taught - Gregory Tsamblak State University of Taraclia.
