The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Khalid Ibrahim Emara. The two discussed a wide range of issues from bilateral relations, co-operation in trade and investment, tourism, transport, culture, education and more.

Velislava Petrova pointed out that Egypt was the first Arab country with which Bulgaria established diplomatic relations (1926) and was our largest trade and economic partner in the Middle East and Africa.

Deputy Minister Petrova stressed that the active political dialogue between the two countries over the past three years and the exchanged visits are a good basis for strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

During the conversation, the possibilities for holding the first meeting of the Joint Commission for Cooperation at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs were discussed, as well as the steps for establishing a joint business council.
