Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova held a meeting with her Argentine counterpart Guillermo Carmona

07 February 2022 News

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina Guillermo Carmona. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Bulgaria Alfredo Nestor Atanasoff also took part in the meeting.

During the conversation, Deputy Minister Dimitrova stressed the long traditions in the relations between the two countries, as well as the readiness of the Bulgarian side to continue to develop active cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. She pointed out that Argentina was the first country in Latin America with which Bulgaria established diplomatic relations 90 years ago and where today lives the largest Bulgarian community in the region, which is a natural bridge to bring together and strengthen the friendship between our two countries.

Special attention was paid to the excellent Bulgarian-Argentinean partnership in the field of Antarctic research. Satisfaction was expressed with the four-year cooperation agreement signed earlier in Sofia on the same day between the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute and the National Directorate of the Antarctic at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina.
