Official delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met in Istanbul with BSEC Secretary General Lazar Comanescu

An official delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Ambassador Maya Dobreva, Director General for Political Affairs and Acting Director General for Bilateral Relations, was received on December 6, 2021 by Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), based in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was also attended by Vasil Valchev, Consul General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, Vanya Andreeva, Director of the Southeast Europe Directorate and Daniela Sirakova, Head of the Regional Cooperation Department, and on behalf of the hosts - Rositsa Stoeva, Executive Manager responsible for the project management.

Ambassador Comanescu briefed the Bulgarian delegation on the goals and activities of the BSEC, emphasizing that the further development of the project-oriented nature of the organization, as well as close cooperation with the EU and all other relevant partners, remain a priority on his agenda as Secretary General.

The strengthening of the role of the BSEC in promoting economic cooperation in the region was discussed, including by further improving the effectiveness of the organization's own working methods, especially in the focus of the forthcoming in June 2022 30th anniversary celebrations.
