Minister Svetlan Stoev called on Bulgarians abroad to get involved in the preparation of the elections abroad
17 October 2021 NewsThe Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev called on the Bulgarian communities abroad to be an active part of the democratic process and to participate with volunteers in the preparation of the elections on 14th November 2021, “because they are our most valuable partner in organizing elections abroad.“
As before, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relies on the help and support of the Bulgarian communities abroad and we are ready to work in close cooperation on the preparation and conduct of the vote, said Minister Stoev at the opening of the XVI World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in the world in Rila Monastery, organized by BTA. Our Foreign Minister expressed hope that his message would reach our compatriots with the help of Bulgarian journalists abroad and the media they represent. Representatives of 27 Bulgarian media from 17 countries are participating in the forum - on site and online.
The aim of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the forthcoming elections for President, Vice President and National Assembly is to organize fair and transparent elections, as well as to provide the best possible conditions for their holding, so as to guarantee the constitutional right to vote of all Bulgarian citizens abroad.
Svetlan Stoev stressed that the organization of elections abroad is a priority in his work as a caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and thanked Bulgarian journalists around the world, who played an important role in the process of organizing elections abroad and for promoting our country.
"As a diplomat, I have had contacts with many Bulgarians abroad and I am convinced that you - our compatriots abroad, are the most influential ambassadors of our country. Your activity and initiative as citizens and journalists give the opportunity for the name of Bulgaria to be heard and known well all over the world, "said our Foreign Minister.
Svetlan Stoev praised the efforts of BTA with all its public activities, including the organization of the forum, to maintain and expand contacts with Bulgarians around the world. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been a partner in this event from the very beginning. The agency was established in 1898 as part of the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religions. "I cannot afford not to be here because the care for the Bulgarian communities abroad is one of the main missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," stressed our first diplomat.
This year's World Meeting, dedicated to the topic "Media and Truth", was opened in the Icon Gallery of the Rila Monastery by Simeon Saxe-Coburg. The host was the General Director of BTA Kiril Valchev. The opening of the event, which will continue in the city of Kyustendil until 19th October, was attended by the Minister of Education and Science Nikolay Denkov, the abbot of the Rila Monastery Bishop Evlogiy, the mayor of Kyustendil Petar Paunov.
Our Foreign Minister used the occasion and invited the participants in the meeting to visit on 18th October the exhibition "Miraculous Icons and Holy Relics in the Balkans", organized by the State Cultural Institute in Kyustendil on the occasion of the forum.
