25 September 2021 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received a letter from the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, in which he expressed his sincere and deep gratitude to Bulgaria for its proposal to accept up to 20 Afghan citizens as part of the efforts of the Union to help for and ensure the protection of staff working for EU structures in Afghanistan.

"This is a particular manifestation of European solidarity, which is very necessary and valued, especially in the current period of crisis," the letter to Minister Stoev said. High Representative Borel expresses readiness for close cooperation on Afghanistan in the future, especially in the coming months, when the EU and its Member States will jointly shape the new approach to Afghanistan and its people.

We remind you that on 26th August 2021, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision to accept up to 70 Afghan citizens and their families, who worked at our embassy or were in official relations with the EU, NATO or with the EU and NATO structures in Afghanistan.
