Ambassador Aleksey Andreev presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization

At a ceremony on 22nd September 2021 in Madrid, Ambassador Aleksey Andreev presented to the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili his credentials, with which he was appointed Permanent Representative of Republic of Bulgaria to the Organization.

During the subsequent conversation between Ambassador Andreev and Secretary General Pololikashvili, the importance that Bulgaria attaches to cooperation with the World Tourism Organization as a key specialized agency of the UN system was emphasized.

Secretary General Pololikashvili welcomed Bulgaria's active and leading role in the region through hosting important tourism forums and events in recent years in partnership with the World Tourism Organization.

The possibilities for the recovery of tourism in the post-pandemic period were outlined, including through the initiative of the World Tourism Organization for the best tourist settlements, in which Bulgaria applied with the traditional and national historical villages and towns of Zheravna, Tryavna and Koprivshtitsa.

On the occasion of the forthcoming World Tourism Day on 27th September, the Secretary General congratulated Bulgaria on the initiative to illuminate the National Palace of Culture in Sofia in the colours of the World Tourism Organization, which is a national recognition of the role and place of the Organization for the development of the world tourism.
