Deputy Minister Dinkova received the Ambassador of Thailand

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zaritsa Dinkova received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Bulgaria Chairat Pornthipwarawet. The meeting was on the occasion of the end of the term of the ambassador, who is based in Bucharest.

Zaritsa Dinkova praised the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Thailand, as well as the importance of Thailand as one of the most intensively developing economies in Southeast Asia, and a country with an active role in regional processes. 

"We support the strengthening of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Thailand. With its strategic location in the heart of the Balkans, Bulgaria is a natural link between Europe and Asia," said Deputy Minister Dinkova. She stressed that Bulgaria offers favourable tax conditions and for foreign investors.

In the course of the conversation, the two interlocutors agreed that the dialogue between our foreign ministries is of key importance for the further strengthening of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest and expressed readiness for its continuation.

As such an example, Zaritsa Dinkova highlighted the three meetings between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Thailand, during international forums in 2019. At the last meeting, the Agreement on Mutual Exemption from Visa Requirements for Short-Term Residence for Holders of Diplomatic and Official passports, which has been in force since April 2020.

The Bulgarian side pointed out that Thailand is among the popular destinations for Bulgarian tourists, emphasizing that the tourism sector in Bulgaria provides a diverse offer.

Ambassador Pornthipwarawet pointed to the gradual opening of certain areas in Thailand to foreign tourists.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Dinkova thanked Ambassador Pornthipwarawet for his efforts to develop our long-standing and friendly bilateral relations with Thailand.
