The establishment in Bulgaria of Argentina's second logistics hub in the EU, as well as "green" energy policies was the topic of a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zaritsa Dinkova and Argentine Ambassador Alfredo Nestor Atanasoff in the Maritza area, part of the Thrace Economic Zone /TEZ/ with the participation of the TEZ team.
"I think that Thrace Economic Zone is one of the suitable places for the construction of the 5th hub of the state of Argentina. So far, we have four - in China, the United States, Dubai and one in the EU - in Antwerpen," said Ambassador Atanasoff.
Thrace Economic Zone is the largest industrial park in Southeast Europe. TEZ has also developed the "Carbon-Neutral Industrial Parks" Consortium (CNIP), a strategic project for the future "green" development of industrial zones in Bulgaria.
Deputy Minister Dinkova and Ambassador Atanasoff praised the CNIP. Zaritsa Dinkova pointed out that the visionary "green" policy of TEZ will meet strong support in Brussels. "Presenting and promoting such ambitious projects to our European partners would help us attract more high-tech, environment-friendly investments in Bulgaria," she said.
The strategic project envisages an increase in the percentage of green energy use in CNIP to 45% in 2025, 60% in 2030 and 100% in 2040. For comparison: the EU adopted the so-called Fit for 55 package - increase the percentage of RES from 32% to 40% by 2030.
TEZ team clarified that the achievement of zero emissions will take place initially in the zones in four Bulgarian districts - Plovdiv, Haskovo, Burgas and Gabrovo, which are part of the "Carbon-Neutral Industrial Parks” Consortium. Thrace Economic Zone is already establishing itself as one of the European centers for manufacture of electric vehicles.
"Actually, we are among the pioneers in the EU in the establishment of Carbon-neutral industrial parks," said the director of Thrace Economic Zone Cluster, Katya Staykova.
