In connection with the celebration of 65 years of the Bulgarian membership in UNESCO and 75 years since the founding of the organisation, the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the Human Rights Directorate - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria for UNESCO, and with the assistance of the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv", mounts a thematic exhibition "Bulgarian Monuments under the patronage of UNESCO". The emphasis of the exhibition is the presentation of the uniqueness and beauty of the Bulgarian monuments included in the list of sites of world cultural and natural heritage. The exhibition reveals professional art photographs and scientifically grounded texts in three languages: Bulgarian, English, French. To this end, and in the context of the procedure for entering the candidacy of the Episcopal Basilica and the Roman Mosaic Heritage of Philippopolis in the UNESCO Indicative List of Important Cultural and Natural Sites, on June 29, 2021 at 06:00 pm was presented the new exhibition in the premises of this remarkable monument of our cultural heritage. The exhibition was opened by Mr Plamen Panov, Deputy Mayor of Culture, Archeology and Tourism in Plovdiv Municipality, Mrs Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, State Cultural Institute Director, Mr Hristo Georgiev, Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Assoc. Prof. Elena Kantareva, Acting Director and Restorer at the Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv". A special guest of the event, which gathered many guests, was Mrs Nancy Schiller, President of the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

The exhibition can be seen by visitors until July 15, 2021. The aim is to present the exhibition "Bulgarian Monuments under the Patronage of UNESCO" not only during the planned initiatives to mark the two anniversaries, but to become a permanent travelling exhibition and to be seen, through a partnership of the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the Bulgarian missions around the world, by a larger number of foreign audiences, as some of the photographs are by Ivo Hadzhimishev, with a design concept by Ilian Lolugov, Head of Cultural Policy Department with the State Cultural Institute. In this way we will present a cultural product abroad to communicate, with its educational element and modern vision, appropriately the Bulgarian membership in UNESCO and the country's contribution to the common cultural and natural wealth that the organisation preserves and promotes.
