The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev congratulated Slovenia on the occasion of the beginning of its presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, 2021.
„Together. Resilient. Europe.” is the motto of the Slovenian Presidency and I hope that it will show us the way forward, for a future in a much better Europe,” said Minister Stoev during a reception at the residence of the Slovenian Embassy.
He emphasised that Bulgaria fully supports the priorities of the Slovenian presidency and assured that Slovenia can count on Bulgaria's assistance.
"I hope that the Slovenian presidency and the priority areas it relies on will benefit all member states," said Svetlan Stoev. In this regard, he stressed that the accession of the countries of the Western Balkans to the EU remains a priority in the foreign policy of our country.
A message was sent to the Slovenian Presidency on a forward-looking sustainable approach that would help to recover from the challenges the EU Member States are facing currently.
Minister Stoev thanked the former Portuguese Presidency for the efforts and positive results achieved in the last six months.
