05 August 2020 News
The government adopted an ordinance amending and supplementing the Rules of Operation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whereby financial auditors will report directly to the Minister. The aim of this change is to achieve functional and structural independence when opinions are given concerning lawfulness and to establish a direct line of reporting to the organization’s head about audits that are performed by said financial auditors. The financial auditors used to be part of the Ministry’s Budget and Finances Directorate until recently.
This ordinance also increases the staff of the Southeast Europe directorate by three positions because of the increased workload of this unit, which handles relations with 12 countries of Southeast Europe, Bulgaria’s participation in a number of regional cooperation formats, the implementation of important infrastructure projects with neighboring countries, Bulgarian development assistance, etc.
