Electronic Form for Entering Greece via the Kulata-Promachon Checkpoint to Remain Out of Order until 14 July

11 July 2020 News

The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Bulgaria has informed us that, in connection with upcoming changes to the rules of entry into Greece via the Kulata-Promachon checkpoint, the mandatory electronic form that generates a QR code would not be accessible for travel via the Kulata-Promachon checkpoint until Tuesday, 14 July 2020, 00:01 hrs.

Travelers who have already obtained their form will still be able to cross but individuals who are not in possession of the form will not be allowed entry and will have to postpone their travel until 15 July.

The Greek Embassy has also informed that the new rules will enter into effect at 6 am on 15 July 2020 rather than on 14 July, as had been reported previously. We recall that under the new rules all individuals entering Greece via the Kulata-Promachon checkpoint for non-essential travel purposes must have a negative PCR test for the coronavirus taken no more than 72 hours before entry into Greece. Only travelers who are in possession of a certificate for a negative PCR test will be allowed to enter Greece.

Today the Greek Embassy explained that the certificate for a negative PCR test should be in English and should contain the traveler’s full name and passport (ID card) number.

Coronavirus tests will be recognized as valid if they have been conducted at a national reference laboratory, a national health laboratory or a private laboratory accredited by the relevant national accreditation authority (not necessarily especially for COVID-19). Certificates that do not comply with these requirements will not be accepted. Forgery of a certificate constitutes a violation punishable under Greek law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published a list of the licensed laboratories in Bulgaria for coronavirus testing. The list is accessible on the Ministry website as well as the websites of the Bulgarian Embassy in Athens and the Bulgarian Consulate General in Thessaloniki at the following links:
