Bulgaria to Open Honorary Consulate in Ufa, Russia

Today, the Council of Ministers decided to open an honorary consulate in Ufa, which is located in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan. Yaroslav Yureevich Shryoder, a Russian national, is set to serve as Honorary Consul.
Bashkortostan is among Russia’s leading economic regions, with more than 80% of its companies being high-revenue and boasting foreign trade relations with more than 104 countries.
Yaroslav Shryoder is highly experienced in holding senior offices in the private sector and his public work has to do with Bulgaria. He has served as chair of the regional public organization Friendship between the Peoples of Bashkortostan and Bulgaria since 2009.
3 June - Georg Georgiev: Bulgaria Will Fight against Conspiracy Theories and Antisemitic Rhetoric
“Bulgaria will fight against the conspiracy theories and antisemitic rhetoric being disseminated internationally as regards the coronavirus,” Georg Georgiev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism, said at an online meeting organized by the World Jewish Congress.
Deputy Minister Georgiev highlighted the importance of preventing the Lukov March rally in Sofia this year to the audience and said: “This was the first time in 17 years in which this march was not held. These successes have inspired us to work diligently and with determination.”
The online discussion was attended by representatives of the World Jewish Congress (Maram Stern, Executive Vice President, Leon Saltiel, Coordinator on Countering Antisemitism) and national coordinators and special envoys on combating antisemitism from all over the world, such as Elan Carr of the US Department of State, Sir Eric Pickles from the United Kingdom, Frederique Poitier from France, Felix Klein from Germany, and Italy’s newly appointed coordinator, Milena Santerini.
The International Meeting of Special Envoys and Coordinators for Combating Antisemitism organized by the World Jewish Congress centered around the issue concerning the dissemination of conspiracy theories about religious and ethnic communities in the context of the growing coronavirus pandemic. Deputy Minister Georgiev assured participants that there have not been any reports of COVID-19-related conspiracy theories in Bulgaria. “We are nonetheless concerned about this global trend and will continue to assist the international community in combating the dissemination of fake news,” Georgiev said.
The third International Meeting of Special Envoys and Coordinators for Combating Antisemitism was originally planned to take place in Zagreb, but was held online because of the spread of COVID-19. Katharina von Schnurbein, the European Commission Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism, served as the meeting’s moderator.
