Deputy Minister Georg Georgiev takes part in March of the Living in Poland

Georg Georgiev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and national coordinator on combating anti-Semitism, led a Bulgarian delegation to take part in the International March of the Living at Auschwitz, Poland, on May 2, 2019. Joining the march were almost 50 thousand people from all over the world who came to pay tribute to the memory of the millions of Jews exterminated in the Holocaust.
The Bulgarian delegation walked the 3-kilometer distance between the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps. ‘The Bulgarian flag flew over the March of the Living in Auschwitz. In those days, for over a million people, these were the last steps in their lives. Today we remember. We shall never forget,’ said Deputy Minister Georgiev.
Besides Georgiev, the delegation included also Desislava Abrasheva, Head of the Political Office of the Minister of Justice; Commissioner Zvezdelin Kolev, head of the Protection Police Department of the General Directorate of the National Police under the Ministry of Interior; Nikolay Galabov, head of the Negev Organisation of Friends of Israel in Bulgaria, other members of the organization as well as of the Shalom Organization of Bulgarian Jews, and representatives of the Sofia Synagogue.
