Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met today with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Bulgaria Doan Tuanh Linh.
‘I congratulate you on your appointment to Bulgaria and I hope that we will build a strategic partnership on the basis of the October 2013 Joint Declaration,’ stated Minister Zaharieva in her welcoming address to the Ambassador.
She pointed out that our two countries maintain excellent political dialog between themselves, citing as an example the visit to Bulgaria of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Phạm Bình Minh and the visit to Viertnam of Emil Karanikolov, Bulgaria’s Minister of the Economy. ‘I expect our political contacts to contribute to strengthening the trade and economic cooperation between our two countries. I would welcome a visit to Bulgaria by Vietnamese President Nguyễn Phú Trọng in the course of this year,’ Zaharieva added.
‘I am honored to be my country’s Ambassador to Bulgaria. We have traditional relations of friendship with your country, which we regard as an exceptionally important partner,’ the Ambassador said.
Bulgaria’s top diplomat pointed out that, while our country actively supports the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam, the two countries should also work to provide favorable conditions for business cooperation on a bilateral basis. The parties to the meeting also discussed the excellent opportunities for stepping up the exchange of labor as well as tourism.
