News in Bulgarian first aired on Albanian TV

01 February 2019 News

On January 28, for the first time ever, a news broadcast in Bulgarian was shown on Albanian television. This marked the launch of a regular half-hour program targeted at the Bulgarian national minority in that country.

The Bulgarian language broadcast will come on air at 5:30 p.m. every day on Channel Two of the national television. The first broadcasts will only feature news in Bulgarian. But the half-hour air time will shortly be filled with video content about Bulgaria. The aim is to see in the future more content about the life of the Bulgarian minority in Albania produced and broadcast to viewing audiences in that country.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Tirana persuaded the management of the Albanian national television to include in the programming content a module called ‘I learn Bulgarian’, that would help our fellow nationals there learn the modern Bulgarian language. The module will be co-produced by Bulgarian National TV and the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria.
