Ekaterina Zaharieva to take part in a meeting of the NATO foreign ministers

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva will take part in the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers of the NATO member states, scheduled to be held in Brussels on December 4-5, 2018.

The discussions will focus on current aspects of international security, the trans-Atlantic bond and the commitments of member states to the NATO collective defense. The ministers will also discuss the strengthening of the role of NATO in the fight against terrorism, its partnership with Iraq as well as the situation in Libya.

With the participation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Federica Mogherini, the Allies will exchange views on the current processes in the Western Balkans, while paying special attention to the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the countries of the region.

At a joint session with Georgia and Ukraine, the foreign ministers will discuss the challenges facing regional security, including in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The forum will conclude with a session of the operational partners in the Resolute Support Mission, with a focus on the all-round security situation in Afghanistan, the parliamentary elections held in that country, the preparation for the forthcoming presidential elections in 2019 and the reconciliation process.
