Bulgaria Takes over BSEC Chairmanship

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Emilia Kraleva took part in the 39th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in Baku. At this forum, Bulgaria took over the Organization’s rotating Chairmanship for the first half of 2019.


In her address to the participants, Deputy Minister Kraleva pointed out the BSEC’s important contribution to the development of economic cooperation and stability in the broader Black Sea region. The Bulgarian diplomat highlighted the need for continuation of the process of reform of the Organization with a view to improving its effectiveness and adaptation to the modern challenges. Deputy Minister Kraleva asserted that the upcoming Bulgarian Chairmanship has set for itself the goal of utilizing to a greater extent the existing considerable potential and also to develop sectoral cooperation in high-priority areas such as transport, culture, and conservation of the environment.


The Bulgarian Chairmanship will work under the motto of “Sea of Opportunity” for the development of cooperation between the BSEC and the EU.
