We observe with growing alarm and concern the development of the mass protests in the Gaza Strip and the growing number of casualties and injured people, including children.
We call on both sides to take immediate decisive actions to deescalate the situation and create conditions to relaunch the peace process.
We reaffirm our strong belief that a solution on the status of Jerusalem and the other contentious issues should only be sought through direct negotiations between the Israeli and the Palestinian sides within the Middle East peace process.
As an EU Member State, Bulgaria remains committed to the regional and international partners including the Middle East Quartet in our support to achieve a two-state solution to the conflict in compliance with the EU Council Conclusions of December 2017 and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
