Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva sent a condolence telegram to the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, related to the fire that broke out at a shopping centre in the town of Kemerovo, where more than 50 people died.

"I was deeply aggrieved at the news of the cruel tragedy in Kemerovo, which has led to dozens of human casualties, with a high number of children among them. Expressing my sincere condolences, I would like to convey through you my sympathy for the pain and grief of the loved ones of those who died in the tragic accident; I also wish a fast recuperation to those who were injured in the fire," Zaharieva wrote in her letter to her Russian counterpart.
