The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria condemns the bombing of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah today during his humanitarian visit to the Gaza Strip.
We qualify this act as an attempt to undermine the efforts of the Palestinian Authority and the international community to improve the appalling humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and forestall the process of Palestinian national reconciliation – and thus to sabotage the resumption of the peace process.
At the same time, we insist it is the responsibility of Hamas to ensure the proper functioning of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza; we call for a thorough investigation into the incident and for putting its organisers and perpetrators in the dock.
