75th Anniversary of the Savings of the Bulgarian Jews Marked in Chicago

11 March 2018 News

In connection with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the saving of the Bulgarian Jews, the Consulate General in Chicago, Illinois, organised a tour of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Educational Center (ILHMEC) on 10 March 2018 for students of the Bulgarian Weekend Schools. The initiative was intended to familiarise the adolescents with that bright page in the history of the Bulgarian people. Sixty children of the Aleko Konstantinov School, the John Atanasoff School, the Small Bulgarian School, New Life and the Znanie Bulgarian Learning Center were present at the event. The students toured the museum exhibit and watched the documentary Beyond Hitler’s Grasp, provided by the Bulgarian Consulate General.

The visit was highly appreciated by the schools’ principals, the children and their parents, as well as by the administration of the Museum.
