Meeting of Minister Daniel Mitov with the newly appointed Ambassador of Romania

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Ion Gâlea. The meeting focused on the partnership between Bulgaria and Romania and the common goals and interests of the two neighboring countries.

Minister Mitov and Ambassador Gâlea expressed their satisfaction with the very intensive bilateral Bulgarian-Romanian political dialogue at the highest level and praised the cooperation between the two countries within the EU and NATO.

They also discussed a number of topics on the current bilateral and European agenda, including the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area, the migration crisis, the Energy Union and the interconnectors between the two countries in the context of the diversification of energy sources, cross-border cooperation, etc.

The Foreign Minister and the Romanian Ambassador exchanged views on security issues in the Black Sea region, the European integration of the Western Balkans, as well as the cooperation of both countries within NATO and other international organizations.
