MFA press release on the situation in the Republic of Turkey
21 July 2016 News
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Turkey under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared a three-month state of emergency at 11:40 pm on July 20. The decision based on Article 120 of the Turkish Constitution will be submitted to the Grand National Assembly. Under the Constitution, following its approval the Council of Ministers may issue decrees with the force of law, imposing specific measures, including certain restrictions on the rights of citizens for that period.
Once the decrees are published, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry will promptly inform Bulgarian nationals so they can comply with the new measures during their stay in the Republic of Turkey.
The recommendations as of 20 July remain in force until further notice.
