Minister Mitov met with the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Georgian Parliament Tedo Japaridze

Minister Daniel Mitov held a meeting today with the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Georgian Parliament Tedo Japaridze. The talks focused on Bulgaria-Georgia bilateral relations, cooperation within the regional formats, Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic perspective, transport and energy projects.

During the meeting Minister Mitov welcomed Georgia’s European perspective and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and expressed readiness to share the Bulgarian experience in the reform process and to provide expert assistance in the implementation of EU programs and projects. The Foreign Minister expressed support for the visa liberalisation for Georgian citizens travelling to the EU and welcomed Georgia's rapid and sustained progress in the implementation of the action plan on visa liberalisation (VLAP).

For his part, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Georgian Parliament thanked for Bulgaria’s continued support and congratulated the work and the priorities of the Bulgarian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

During the talks they emphasized the need to seize the geo-strategic opportunities of both countries and to utilize their potential as transport and energy hubs between Europe and Asia. "Georgia is an important partner in the implementation of projects of energy supply routes diversification to Europe and Bulgaria," said Minister Mitov. Both expressed readiness to develop partner relations with the countries of the Southern Gas Corridor, and to strengthen cooperation in the Black Sea region in accordance with the current geopolitical environment.
