Minister Mitov held a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian

 "The Republic of Armenia is an important international partner and a longtime friend of Bulgaria. Today's visit gives impetus to the bilateral relations and reaffirms our desire to develop projects of mutual interest," said Minister Daniel Mitov during a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, who is paying an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart.

The talks focused on the EU-Armenia Partnership, the development of transport infrastructure and the deepening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism, agriculture, energy and culture.

Minister Mitov emphasized on the importance of utilizing the full potential of the transport infrastructure projects, including by linking the Black Sea and South Caucasus. The two foreign ministers agreed on the need of implementing strategic transport projects also through the active participation of both countries in the New Silk Road in the context of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative.

During the meeting they also discussed opportunities for intensifying the trade and economic relations through the expansion of trade and strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism.

Minister Mitov reaffirmed Bulgaria’s firm support for strengthening and deepening EU-Armenia cooperation within the Eastern Partnership, including for the successful negotiations for a new framework agreement for cooperation between the EU and Armenia. They agreed also on the intensification of contacts between Bulgaria and Armenia at high and the highest level.
