Director General of the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI) Dr Maria Sultan will deliver a public lecture at the Diplomatic Institute

The Director-General of the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI), Dr Maria Sultan, will deliver a public lecture at the Diplomatic Institute on "The proliferation of nuclear weapons: emerging threats and implications for regional security."

 

The lecture will be on Thursday March 15 2012 at 11am in room 101 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2 Alexander Zhendov Street.

 

Dr. Maria Sultan is the Director-General of the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute, based in London. She was previously the deputy director of the South Asian Strategic Stability Unit at the Bradford Disarmament Research Centre.

 

Dr. Sultan is involved in the media, analysing international nuclear problems and issues related to strategic defense for Pakistank National Radio, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, CNBC, Japanese TV and others.

 

She is an advisor to the Minister of Defence of Pakistan.

 

The Institute for Strategic Stability in South Asia is an international research organization with a multidisciplinary approach based on social sciences, politics, media and law. The Institute focuses primarily on nuclear and strategic stability in South Asia with a focus covering chemical and biological weapons, balance of conventional forces, civil-military relations and other topics.

 

The lecture will be in English, with simultaneous translation into Bulgarian.
