The government approved additional BGN 1.2 million to finance Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted a decree approving additional expenditures in 2020 for financing the activities for the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The approved funds amount to BGN 1,258,014 and will be used for the implementation of measures set out in the Roadmap for Bulgaria’s Actions to Accession to the OECD, as well as in the Action Plan agreed with the OECD by the end of 2020. The funds will be used for the participation of our country in the work of various bodies of the organisation, for joining new committees and legal instruments, participation in OECD forums, conducting peer reviews / reviews by the OECD on important areas of the socio-economic life of the country.

Membership in the OECD is among Bulgaria’s main foreign policy priorities, and receiving an invitation to start negotiations is among the government’s immediate goals.

The OECD currently has 37 member states, including the most developed economies in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
