The Embassy in Ottawa co-organized the Opening of the Bulgarian Cultural Days in Ottawa on 1 October, with a Theodosii Spassov Folk Quintet Concert

On October 1, 2023 - the International Day of Music, Theodosii Spassov Folk Quintet performed a spectacular concert in Ottawa, which kicked off the Bulgarian Cultural Days in the Canadian capital. The organizers of the event - the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa and Senator Yonah Martin, Co-chair of the Canada-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group addressed the audience with opening remarks.

Main information — satellite-based tolling system in Bulgaria

As from 1 March 2020, road vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum weight exceeding 3,5 tonnes circulating on paid road sections in Bulgaria will have to pay for their use distance-based road charges – toll. The toll replaces the electronic vignette for heavy vehicles and buses.

No Bulgarians injured in the crash between a passenger train and a bus in Ottawa

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa, six people including the bus driver died in the tragic accident between a passanger train and a city bus on September 18, 2013. 31 are injured, of which 11 in serious condition.

No Bulgarians injured in the freight train accident in Lac-Megantic, Canada

The Embassy in Ottawa says that the result of checks are that at this time, there is no information that any Bulgarian citizens have been injured as a result of the derailment of a freight train on July 6 2013 in the town of Lac-Megantic in the province of Quebec.
