The Sino-Bulgarian Climate Change and Rural Revitalization Symposium – 2023 took place in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on October 25^th, 2023. The event was organized by SJTU. The Bulgarian participants included Assoc. Prof. Bozhidar Ivanov and prof. Hrabrin Bachev from the Institute of Agrarian Economics – Sofia, Prof. Natalya Kilifarska from the Climate, Atmosphere and Water Research Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Rossen Nedialkov from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Assoc. Prof. Yanka Kazakova-Mateva from the University of National and World Economy and Chief Assistant Prof. Dobri Dunchev from the Agricultural University – Plovdiv.

The symposium was opened with remarks by Prof. Zhou Jun, Dean of the Division of Frontier Research, SJTU and Mr. Zhao Quan, Deputy Director (Presiding) of the Department of International Cooperation in the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality.

In his speech the Consul General of Bulgaria Vladislav Spasov underlined the importance of Bulgarian research and higher educational institutions participating at the symposium. He appreciated the status of Shanghai as international economic, financial, trade and shipping center, and the efforts of the municipal authorities to establish the city as a globally influential scientific and technological innovation center.

At an awarding ceremony six Chinese towns received their plaques as Shanghai’s “Belt and Road” International Joint Laboratory Research Sites.
