The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai launched its official WeChat/Weixin Account in October 2024. The name of the account is CGofBulgaria. There, people can find relevant information regarding the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai including contact information, working hours, as well as answers to the most frequently asked visa questions.

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE-2024) is taking place in Shanghai from 5th to 10th November 2024. In the Food and Agricultural Products area Chinese importers of Bulgarian goods exhibit products of the Bulgarian companies Biofresh, Bulgarian Rose-Karlovo and others.

Оn 25 October 2024, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai organized a meeting between the Bulgarian community and the writer Zornitsa Garkova. The event was dedicated to 1st November – the National Awakeners’ Day and took place in the only restaurant in China that offers Bulgarian cuisine – Vanca’s.

On 10th October 2024 the Consulate General of Bulgaria organized a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the People’s Republic of China at the Musical corner of People’s Square subway station in Shanghai. The event was attended by the Vice President of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) Mr. Fu Jihong, the Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism Mr. Jin Lei, the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Mr. Ge Shi Pin, Chinese and Bulgarian citizens.

At the invitation of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and with the support of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in the megalopolis, on 15 September 2024 the Folklore Dance Ensemble “Balkan” presented Bulgarian folklore dancing in Shanghai.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of implementing a large-scale project, coordinated in advance with all responsible institutions in Bulgaria and the EU, including the implementation and launch of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS).

On 20-21 June 2024 the Consul General Vladislav Spasov visited Nanjing - the capital of Jiangsu province. He was received there by the Mayor of Nanjing Mr. Chen Zhichang. During the meeting both sides spoke highly of the commemoration in 2024 of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China and discussed topics of mutual interest.

The Consul General of Bulgaria in Shanghai Vladislav Spasov attended the opening ceremony of the Zhejiang Provincial “National Science Week” and China-Europe Innovation Cooperation Conference 2024 in Hangzhou on 25 May 2024. The events were hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology and Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government.

On the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature, on 24 May 2024 the Consul General Vladislav Spasov visited the East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai. He was received by the ECNU President Prof. Qian Xuhong, with whom he discussed future prospects for cooperation between the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and ECNU. In 2023 ECNU ranked 1st between Chinese universities in software engineering, followed by Tsinghua University and Beihang University.

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai together with other EU Member States participated in the EU Open House. The event was organized by the Belgium Presidency of the Council of EU with the support of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China.
