On July 8, 2021, the Consul General of Bulgaria in Shanghai Mr. Vladislav Spasov met the Deputy Director of Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office Mr. FU Jihong. They exchanged views about Bulgaria-China relations, sister-cities relationship between Sofia and Shanghai and bilateral issues in the area of economy, trade, science and technology, culture and the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government has already managed to achieve its four goals of establishing Shanghai as a world center of economy, finances, trade and shipping. In the scope of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, a new goal has been added – the establishment of Shanghai as a world center for innovations, science and technology.

In this framework and on the solid basis of Bulgaria-China relations, as well as the efficient cooperation between the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai and the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office, there is a wide range of opportunities for the development of Bulgaria-China and Sofia-Shanghai relations.
