For a second consecutive year, the Bulgarian Consul General in New York Angel Angelov was honored to be among the very few senior diplomats who attended the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York Congressional Breakfast. He was invited as a guest by the AJC New York, one of the leading member organizations of the JCRC.

The main focus of the event was on the fate of the hostages, kidnapped by Hamas and still held in captivity. The family of a kidnapped young American-Israeli man took the floor and called for the release of the hostages.

All of the speakers reaffirmed the steadfast support of the US for Israel, while a few of them also spoke in support of a two-state solution, based on the peaceful coexistence of a Jewish state and a Palestinian state.

The 3-hour event took place in a fully packed room and presented an excellent opportunity for interaction between Congressional representatives, Jewish community leaders, and diplomats. Among the keynote speakers were one senator and seven members of the House, representing the state of New York.

The Bulgarian Consul General took the opportunity to share in his conversations with other guests the story of the rescue of 50,000 Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust.
